[fP]Live! 2008

The Gaming Arena

Wireworld The LAN arena is drinks licenced (UK law means you need to be 18 or over to drink alcohol), adjacent to the first choice hotel and a wide selection of take-away food locations (literally within 2-3 minutes each). The arena can take up to 29 players (although we are asked to limit to around 24 so that regulars can play) with all hardware on-site so it is a level playing field, very much in keeping with the [fP] philosophy. They will be set up in advance with the main games we are used to playing at [fP] but they really know how to organise gamer parties so please, relax and let Mac guide us to what he thinks we will enjoy as well. The LAN arena also sells snacks and soft drinks.

The arena is open from 1pm and you can book a session starting at 1pm or 4pm if you want to get an early start on the gaming but there are social events set up for Friday and Saturday as well that all are welcome to attend. Parking near the arena is excellent - there is free public car park around the corner on Waterloo road 2 minutes from arena. see map

I have a very good relationship with the owners and want to keep it that way ;-) They have a few simple ground rules for system security and fair game-play. The main points of this are - no personal hardware - the arena has all hardware in place. No personal storage media with software/configs (you can, of course, set up controls and options at the start of gaming sessions through the normal game interfaces). Alcohol is only served to the over 18's and only after 7pm. The PCs are not to be used for anything other than the organised gaming and to be left as you found them. During the day the arena is a family venue so please bear in mind that there are younger users around. The arena and this meeting is not about pro-gaming but fun - so don't worry about being 1337, just relax and enjoy :-)
